admin It was a life-altering decision to focus on buying mountain bike. The racing rider wants it for speed. The light weight contributes to that. It is also more fun for the recreational rider to have a light weight bike for riding uphill trails. The padded seat was important too.
Not everyone races along like a first place winner. Most riders are content to ride at a leisurely pace. If the weather is pleasant, not over 80 and not under 60, it makes for a perfect way to get in the cardio that a moderate exerciser needs. If the scenery is outstanding, it is like taking a mini-vacation in the middle of the week.
Jeana was a recreational rider. Important to her was having a matching bike color and helmet color. Her outfit might be a pair of pearl izumi shorts and a matching t-shirt. Sun block protected her skin from sunburn. She wanted to look good, have fun and still not do any sun damage to her skin. The cardio factor wasn’t her primary reason for riding.
Riding up a hill is always a surprise to the first-time rider. It doesn’t look hard because the incline is always gradual. But after a certain length of time, her legs had begun to shake and she could feel the calf muscles tensing. She felt sweaty and her hands were slippery. It was a relief to stop under a shade tree to rest.
The water in her bottle was still cool. She knew that by the time they reached the top, she’d be drinking tepid water. Still, it was better than nothing. After a brief, ten-minute rest, they got back on their bikes and continued uphill.
They hopped back on their bikes and continued up the hill. They mentioned yet again how great these light weight bikes were. Why had they waited till this spring to buy them they wondered? Now the riding uphill was as enjoyable as the downhill trip back.
Riding up the hill on these lightweight diamondback bikes was a pleasure. It was still a challenge but not to the point where they wanted to get off and push the bikes alongside them. Green, with matching helmets, they were so attractive too.
Squirrels and birds seem to watch them as they rode on. Finally, they were at the top. Halfway through the journey, they laughed about their hill seeming more like a mountain. The view was really clear today. No clouds were in the sky to bar the view. Sitting under a large shade tree, sipping their hot water they have some nutrition bars, and chewed them as they continue to enjoy the day.
