Having Strong reasons for acting is a large part of motivation. You’d have very Strong reasons for handing in your winning ticket if you were to win the lottery – such as, no longer having to work, the things you’d be able to do, the things you’d be able to buy, and so on. You can create the same kind of motivation to lose weight by having Powerful reasons for doing it. A Longer Life and less risk of desease? Being an inspiration and example-setter to others? What will it cost you if you don’t lose weight? Write your reasons down, and use them to drive you.
Begin With The End In Mind
Clarity of vision will greatly enhance your levels of motivation. So my second diet motivation tip is to create a clear vision of exactly what your ultimate weight loss goal is. Find or create a group of like-minded people who are absolutely committed to losing weight, OR – get yourself around a group of people who have already lose weight, and use them as role models. Being around people who are moving in the direction you want to go, or who are already there, will keep your weight loss and dieting motivation high, and inspire you to keep moving forwards and succeed.
Belief
You’re unlike to achieve anything if you don’t believe in your ability to do it. We hear this all the time because it’s true. Make the decision that the past does not equal the future for you, and use any past failures as learning experiences. Know that you can lose weight, believe in yourself fully, and refuse to allow yourself to consider failure.
Personal Coaching
Hiring a personal trainer is one of the most powerful and effective things you can do if you’re really serious about losing weight. Personal trainers are there to keep you accountable during tough periods when you ‘just don’t feel like it’, providing the external motivation to keep you on track.
