I quit smoking over 60 days ago (one pack a day over 30 years) but lately have experienced tight chest, dry mouth (especially in sleep at night), dizziness and a bit stuffy nose. Any ex-smokers had the similar experiences before? And how long did it go away if you had the experieces?
Thanks in advance!
I quit it cold turkey.
‘Taker, I know someones had flu like symptoms after they quit smoking. Thanks for answering!
You didn’t say if you quit cold turkey on your own or if you took any stop smoking medicine to stop. I know someone who took Chantex and in probably about the same time frame that you’re talking about, he started having joint pains and back pain – various muscular pains – and also dry mouth and things that you say. I think it took maybe 6 months for most things to go away although he does still have shoulder pain.
Some of the things you’re experiencing might also be from stress and tension from not smoking anymore. While you might think you don’t miss it, your body experienced the side effects of smoking for a very long time and it’s still detoxing, in my opinion. I’ll bet that certain situations make you still feel like smoking or that being in certain places or whatever, make you still feel like having a cigarette sometimes if not always. That, too, will go away after a while.
If you take the medicine, then why not Google the name, and then watch it, especially the side effects and adverse reactions. It is possible that you feel very often, even if you just go out cold turkey. I did it too, and not easy. I know! By the way, good Goin 'congratulations!
