I quit smoking after 20 years, and now it was a half weeks, and suddenly all the salty taste …

I remember my dad saying it. When you smoke, your taste buds do not experience the true taste of things, so you may find you salty food.
Now nothing interefere with real taste, so the salinity (and other flavors) can come to the end.
